Tapping into the Collective Conscious

As a kid, did you ever play the game where you started a story by saying one sentence and a friend or sibling would continue by saying another sentence and another friend or a sibling would continue by saying another and so on? The story would take on a life of its own, and its end product would be a result of its countless contributors.

Well, I would like to do that, but virtually. Click on COMMENTS at the end of this post and you will see the first sentence and subsequent sentences to what will hopefully become a published book. I would like you to write the next sentence.

My hope is that we would be able to get collaborators from every corner of the world to contribute a sentence to the book. The more global, the better!

Now, here’s where the something BIGGER part comes in: I envision publishing this book and directing the proceeds from the sales of its publication to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The Global Fund (http://www.theglobalfund.org) was created to dramatically increase resources to fight these devastating diseases, which kill over 6 million people each year.

The only rules are these:

* Write a sentence in the COMMENTS section that logically follows the one before it. (It could be a one-word sentence. It could be a 20-word sentence. No contribution is too big or too small.) Have fun! Purposefully, I have not designated a theme or tonality to this book. It’s up to us to develop the plot, one person and one sentence at a time.

* When you post, please include the following information: your name (if you don't want to include your last name, that's cool), age, city and country, and who you would like to dedicate the book to and why (in 10 words or less). You will see that I have done so in mine.

* Finally, pass this link along to anyone who you think would like to contribute.

As with any book, there needs to be a deadline. So, I’m setting the deadline to be midnight EST on World Aids Day (Dec. 1, 2007).

I encourage you to check back periodically to track the progress. And encourage your friends to visit.

Thanks in advance!
